Green Scapulars, Y’all

What our time needs now is conversions. Lots of grace, and lots of conversions, repentance and amendment of lives. Recently I discovered an aid for the faithful in calling down these graces: the Green Scapular, also known as “The Badge of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.” What a beautiful gift from Heaven!

The Green Scapular is a sacramental revealed in the 1840’s to a French nun of the same order that St. Catherine Labourè (of the Miraculous Medal) belonged to. It is a miraculous tool for conversions. Also, devotional use of the Green Scapular has been known sometimes to result in remarkable healings.

Here’s what you need to know to use it:

  1. You must get a 100% wool green scapular
  2. It must be blessed by a priest
  3. Give it to someone you want to help.
  4. Daily pray the prayer on the back, “Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death” and if possible, have the recipient do so as well.

It’s a beautiful sacramental and devotion, different from the brown scapular in several ways. The people for whom you are praying do not even need to know about it, you can place it discreetly amongst their things and then pray, pray, pray the Green Scapular prayer for them.

You can obtain these scapulars from retailers of Catholic goods on the web, and often at the physical storefronts, check and see. Also, in Front Royal, Virginia, the Society of the Green Scapular provides blessed Green Scapulars to those who write in requesting them, provided that they currently have the donated funds for doing so–be sure and donate when ordering yours! Please visit their site for more information about devotion to the Mother of God and this sacramental.

I hope you and your loved ones experience many graces and blessings due to the ardent generosity of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Be sure and take advantage of this miraculous gift from our dear Mother!

  1. This is good to know. So this scapular doesn’t require enrollment and it isn’t worn? And the person you give it to you doesn’t even have to know? I have many family members who will be on the receiving end of this devotion! Thank you!
