Lenten Hymns in Latin

Earlier I posted a list of six Lenten hymns in English, and here is a list for the Latin-lovers among you as well:

  • Attende Domine    (*Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the audio file!* Sheet music is here, under “Extra Downloads”)
  • Parce Domine    (*Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the audio file!* Sheet music here, under “Extra Downloads”)
  • Stabat Mater    (Sheet music here, under “Extra Downloads”)
  • Vexilla Regis    (Good Friday) (*Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the audio file!* Sheet music here, under “Extra Downloads”)
  • Crux Fidelis    (Good Friday) (Sheet music here, under “Extra Downloads”)

(I want to note here that the sheet music mentioned above is all to be found on the page I’ve linked to, and it is all from the Parish Book of Chant edited by Richard Rice and published by the Church Music Association of America. Each and every Catholic should own this book–it contains so very many of the great musical treasures of our tradition, our birthright as Catholics. The CMAA has made the book freely available for download, so if you prefer not to use a print copy, using an e-reader or tablet is a wonderful option for you. I absolutely love this book and use it for singing at home, as well as with our Schola!)
